I’m Good(Blue) Touched Me in the Club

I was about to leave the club the other day, and I’m Good was my last song before I left. It was the perfect ending song for me. I was singing the lyrics all the way down the street and then I played it for a good portion of the car ride.

Information

I’m Good is a remix by Bebe Rexha and the French DJ David Guetta and it was released in September 2022. The song was previously released informally in 2017 as part of Guetta’s setlist. Before this, these two collaborated on several songs including Hey Mama with Nicki Minaj and Say My Name with J. Balvin.

Why it’s so Good

I’m Good sampled the 90’s song I’m Blue(Ba Da Dee) by the group Eifel 65. That song was a legend in its own right, and it was already on my playlist. The rhythm and lyrics are infectious, just like this remix. If you are not familiar with I’m Blue, it is linked underneath this paragraph:

Differences

The remix is more uplifting in lyrical tone, however, in comparison to its 90’s counterpart:

Blue(Da Ba Dee)

Blue is about a guy who is depressed and his whole life is blue. I’m Good I think is about a girl who broke up with her partner and goes to a club to have a good time. Both depressing now that I think about it. But a good portion of dance songs are depressing but have a good beat, so it isn’t that bad.

But the fact is that the 90’s beat was so good that people are still enjoying it to this day. I had this song on my playlist since middle school. The new remix is just proof that it is a legendary beat.

It’s like Ecuador by Sash!, a 90s song with a legendary beat that has been reused in different remixes and lyrical forms. It’s just an experimental beat! Don’t tell me you haven’t heard this beat somewhere. It’s just so classic and I may write a post on it.

In conclusion

Both Blue and I’m Good are good songs in their own right. I think music is very experimental and you can make your own version of a song and have it still be good. Also, the ’90s are back!!
