GremoryLand is One of the Scariest Comics on Webtoon

It’s Manhwa Monday again, but this time it’s Halloween, so I really gotta do something here. So it’s GremoryLand by A.Rasen from Line Webtoon!

GremoryLand got me messed up. It’s about 5 “friends” who are invited to go to a scary amusement park, they think it’s normal at first but as they go through it they start to live their biggest fears.

I was reading a chapter a week because I have to digest how messed up the comic for a few days. But I noticed the comic was completed and I decided to binge 20 episodes yesterday before they decided to turn it Daily Pass. I had to stop every few chapters because I would learn something utterly messed up about the characters. I’ll be cruising down the chapters having a good day, but then I would learn something about a character’s past that got me messed up. It is really a page-turner and you still want to read it after the fucked up parts.

!I read A Rasens’ Melvina’s Therapy and that was so creepy too. I personally loved GremoryLand more, but Melvina’s Therapy was slightly scarier because it was all in black and white.

The author really knows what’s up in the scare department. Things be scary, but surreal scary.

Needles freak me out and in Melvina Therapy, there was a bunch of needles. But in Gremory there was only one incidence of needles that I can remember, but that only happened in the ending chapters, so I was cool. Needles are not my thing.

This Webtoon got me fucked up. Everyone was a victim but I think Bruno was the biggest victim. This man got his sister killed, got dragged in the GremoryLand twice, sexually harassed and most of his friends got killed. But I don’t remember him doing anything specifically wrong. I also don’t remember Bekka doing anything wrong except there was the part where Zoe died and she was there.

Maybe if Bekka said ” Let’s go home!”, maybe Zoe would be alive. But Gremory would have tried to find a way to get her at some point because they are a demon who likes to have young women hosts( according to the WEBTOON comments). Zoe was also one of the people who could see that Gremory existed, so he wasn’t gonna give up on trying to kill her or trying to do stuff to her.

Rami is a difficult case for me to be honest, I was gonna name him the biggest victim because he was bullied and stuff. But then, he actually killed Jax. Jax deserved to die, though. I thought Jax was just a terrible person who bullied people. But I done lost Jax’s respect when he was out here raping girls and talking to his “dick”. I was done XDXD. He was literally toxic masculunity at its finest. Rami also was locked in the room after Zoe realized he killed Jax, with Jax’s dead body. WITH THE THE DEAD BODY OF THE PERSON HE JUST KILLED. Yo, that’s traumatizing as fuck. I was really mad at Zoe for doing that shit to him. He also had his repentance scene in the last few chapters and sadly he is stuck in GremoryLand forever for no reason. He could have been redeemed in the real world. But at least Zoe said:

Eva’s father was a victim, but if he didn’t talk to Gremory and did all that shit to Eva’s body and made it a vessel for the Gremory because he wanted her back, so he started the whole thing anyways… which is a big ughhhhhhh. I know you want your daughter back, but that’s some craziness. I would have stopped at unburying the dead body. But again, you would do anything to get your dead daughter back who was killed under “unfortunate circumstances.” And could be possibly your fault. I think the father was guilty as fuckkk. He said yes to his daughter going to a party and didn’t consult her mom apparently. Also, she was in treatment for her schizo because she was seeing Gremory-related hallucinations. So the father should have not her let out at all or should have done something different.

The way she died was really unfortunate. Not gonna lie. They roofed her drink, tried to rape her and take pictures of it, then they realized she was the daughter of a cop(Leslie) and then they throw her out of the back of the car. I honestly started crying after that part. Then the Gremory started talking to her, and she was trying to run away from him( drunk and drugged) and she ran off a cliff. I was really done, I had to take an hour break from the comic, that kinda upset me, Which made it more satisfying to see them get tortured and die in GremoryLand. So satisfying bro. When they got caught by the witches and one of them was sliced to death, I smiled. They also were tortured and broken, so they could become killing mascots. HAHAHAHAHA. I love revenge.

But I feel bad, because Judy the little sister who was dragged into the GremoryLand doesn’t get to see her brother again, but he was really a bad guy. (Judy as you notice in the picture below, is wearing Dorothy’s clothes from Wizard of Oz as symbolism that she gets to leave) But the only reason Judy got out is that we the as the readers were the Gremory. Otherwise, she would have been killed for no reason. I’m glad she didn’t die though. Same with Jax, everyone wanted him to die, so Rami killed him. I didn’t expect Rami to actually kill Jax tho, but us as the readers wanted him dead. But I kinda wanted Jax to die over his own stupidity, like him making noises in the museum where you were supposed to be silent. It was a delicious twist to have Rami kill him. Delicious in the sense of it being super satisfying.

Many people in the comment section didn’t like the twist where the readers and author are the Gremory. I’m like why not? It makes it super interesting how we were watching the other dimension crossing time and light. But that leaves us on a cliffhanger at the end. I wonder if any of them get out? Since we can’t see thru the dimension anymore. Since the author is the Gremory, and since the main offenders like Eva and Tom are dead, can everyone be let out of it because Gremory has to find a new host? But no one is supposed to leave. Judy was allowed to leave because she didn’t know Eva and had absolutely nothing to do with why she died and wasn’t near her. Honestly, I don’t think anyone was allowed to leave this time.

I forgot to mention Eva’s mom Leslie, she was really looking into this case because she’s a police officer, but she did some stupid horror movie shit too. She went and investigated stuff with no back-up and without knowing what she was getting into. She kept on wasting bullets on stuff that she didn’t need to waste bullets on. But overall she was a good mom and she wanted to figure out why her daughter was dead.

The real MVP of GremoryLand goes to my girl Zoe. She helped solve all the puzzles and she really has a sense of determination. She wants to spark changes and she tried to stop her mom from being domestically abused. She also tries to stand up for all of her friends. She did not deserve to be in there. I didn’t see her do anything bad except lock ya boi in the room with the body. That was fucked up, but she panicked and she didn’t want to be killed too. But she didn’t do anything that warranted her to be killed by Rami, so s he should have not been worried. He snapped on Jax because he bullied him his entire life and played with his feelings. I really had respect for Zoe after she solved the puzzle when they were drowning in that water room. Respect, I would have just panicked.

I just liked the angle of Zoe jumping, I wanted to draw that.

I can’t forget ol’ Margot. The author tried to redeem her at the end but watching a child die because she took her inhaler is too much. Who the hell does that shit? She could have just went to live with Bruno and spent more time with them instead of killing the sister. She didn’t just kill the sister, she used wasted the medicine out of the inhaler and watched her die. That’s so fucked up. I was done after that shit.

I was also done after she dressed up as the sister and tried to rape Bruno. What is that incest shit? She also drugged him with some Viagara shit, so he was hard when she tried to rape him. I needed some bleach water after that scene. My god…. that scared the shit out of me. Why was that a good idea, she want to get closer to Bruno, but that was not it but I don’t think she understands emotions or even had a handle on her emotions in the first place. If I were Bruno, I would not know how to handle this. How would he know if the bitch wasn’t gonna kill him if he turned on her? And the fact she tried to be close to him after the sister died, got me messed up.

There were also a lot of references in this comic, but I didn’t catch any of them because I’m not into horror like that. But I did some research and I found out how to summon a Gremory Demon. What the hell, that’s not alright. We can pray to demons but summoning them is out of the question unless you are in Adventures of God webcomic. Other than that, please don’t XD

In the end, this comic had a good ending and I enjoyed all the twists and turns of the comic. There are probably some moments I forgot about, but the moments I talked about made me really think. After I finished his comic, I literally cleaned my room and worked on HW all day because I was so scared. I also choose to be super nice to people and not be fucked up as hell. I will not be a victim of my circumstances and I will get up and go do some shit. The comic scared me to change my life. I’m grateful.

In conclusion, this was an amazing comic. At the time I wrote this post, the comic was not daily pass. But if it is not daily pass, I suggest binge reading it before Halloween to give yourself the chills!
